US-NY/NJ-Senior Security Engineer

Overview

Individual will be responsible for security solutions for client environments, and will serve as the primary Security Engineer in this small consultancy practice. Candidate should be a subject matter expert for intrusion, NAC and WAN optimization technologies. This position will be responsible for all phases of projects: design, planning, implementation and ongoing support, and candidate will be expected to perform duties for technical operations including policy development and review of sensor and system logs for signs of unusual network activity. Responsibilities include working with both vendors and customers on security designs, making appropriate recommendations, implementing and troubleshooting security designs, project documentation, and customer knowledge transfer.

Other responsibilities include extensive documentation, in ongoing efforts to meet project deadlines, as well as working with and interacting professionally with both clients and integrators to create proper development specs and expectations.

Technical Skills
  • It is mandatory that candidate be able to demonstrate extensive expertise with IPS technologies including Tipping Point, Juniper, ISS, Sourcefire, Cisco, Check Point, Fortigate, in addition to host-based technologies including CSA, McAfee, eEye
  • It is mandatory that candidate be able to demonstrate extensive 802.1x expertise including Cisco NAC, Juniper UAC with SBR, ForeScout
  • Experience with Riverbed & Peribit (Juniper), WAAS network acceleration
  • Extensive Cisco PIX/ASA configuration and deployment experience
  • Knowledge and deployment experience with Cisco IPS
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco NAC and CSA with deployment experience 
  • Understanding of Cisco Security MARS with deployment experience
  • Strong understanding of Cisco ISR architecture and configuration options
  • Extensive experience designing and deploying Blue Coat ProxySG

Candidate should be a subject matter expert for infrastructure, wireless and security initiatives. This position will be responsible for all phases of projects: design, planning, implementation and ongoing support, and will be expected to perform duties for technical operations including review of sensor and system logs for signs of unusual network activity. Network responsibilities include identifying, assessing and developing detailed requirements for upgrading existing networks; as well as re-architecting network segments in order to facilitate new requirements, technologies and growth.

Other responsibilities include extensive documentation, in ongoing efforts to meet project deadlines, as well as working with and interacting professionally with both clients and integrators to create proper development specs and expectations.

  • Demonstrated expertise in wireless security (i.e. 802.1X/EAP/LEAP with TKIP)
  • Demonstrated expertise in Juniper UAC
  • Knowledge and understanding of Data and Voice networks, IP networking
  • Knowledge of network management systems and element management systems (e.g., HP OpenView, CiscoWorks, Remedy)
  • Demonstrated ability with vendor-specific routers & IP switches (e.g., Cisco)
  • Demonstrated expertise with vendor-specific security technologies (as listed below)
  • Excellent documentation skills and demonstrated expertise with Visio.

In addition to legacy network and security technologies including PIX, IOS & ScreenOS firewalls as well as Cisco, Secure Remote and Netscreen Remote VPN clients, it is mandatory that candidates be able to demonstrate expertise with the following: Catalyst 6500 Series Next-Generation Product Portfolio including 720 Sup and service modules, Cisco Firewall Service Module (FWSM), Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) Solution Engine and servers, Cisco Security Agent (CSA), Juniper IDP, Tipping Point or Intrusion Detection System Services Module (IDSM-2), and Aironet 1400/1300 wireless bridges and 1300/1200/1100 access points. IP Telephony and WAN Optimization knowledge helpful.

Individual will be expected to design, install, monitor and troubleshoot client network security and network monitoring tools. This position will focus on IT Network Security, using the following systems and tools: CiscoWorks 2000 VMS, Cisco IDS units, Cisco Security Agent, Cisco PIX Firewalls, Cisco Router Firewalls, Cisco VPN Devices, CiscoSecure ACS, ISS Real Secure Server, Wireless Network Security. Stellar technical writing, documentation development, process mapping, and visual communication, skills. Experience in managing several (two to four) concurrent large-scale enterprise wide information technology capability development projects. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Financial services industry (Insurance, Banking, Investments) experience a plus. CISSP and/or GIAC certifications helpful.
